The National Press Photographers Association is open to still photographers, videographers…anyone interested in visual journalism. The National Press Photographers Association (NPPA) is focused on the journalism side of photography and video and learning visual storytelling skills, from what makes a good story to how to shoot and edit.
I highly encourage you to join in order to participate in the activities and events that the Texas State student chapter intends to have this coming year: lighting workshops, guest speakers, software workshops (Final Cut, Premiere, Photoshop, Soundslide, etc.), one-on-one critiques of work, etc. Additionally, Texas State University hosts the prestigious annual NPPA Advanced Storytelling workshop every April. Professionals in print and broadcast from all over the country come to our school learn how to sharpen their video and multimedia skills. It’s a great networking opportunity. These things are only available to you if you pay the membership fees and are an official member.
